An introductory course for Designated Safeguarding Leads in schools who are new to the DSL role.
The required education section must be done in addition to the Surrey Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB) multi-agency modular courses. This course may be done at any time whilst the person is completing the SSCB modules.
Delegates should be designated DSLs or Deputy DSLs and have completed basic safeguarding awareness training within the past 3 years.
Event Training Objectives
*To provide information on the political and legislative context
*To explain the DSL role, the Ofsted framework and briefing
*To provide information about dealing with worries, referrals, serious case reviews, information sharing, talking with parents
*To provide information about recording and monitoring, safe/children, safe staff.
*To provide information about cascading the Safeguarding Awareness Training.
Participants will gain:
Knowledge about the DSL role in schools Knowledge about safeguarding and child protection Ability to deliver the Safeguarding Awareness Training to school staff Information Pack and a certificate of attendance
